Elkwood Golf Course is located on the Sturgis Airport property one-half mile east of Sturgis on US Hwy 60 West. Construction began in 1997. Its creation is described as nothing short of a miracle as the community came together to construct it. Many generous cash donations coupled with countless free man hours, materials along with the cooperation of the Union County Air Board and staff, the City of Sturgis, and the Federal Aviation Administration (Airports District Office, Memphis) resulted in the course being opened for play on June 8th, 1998.

Elkwood Golf Course is a nine-hole public course featuring Bent Greens, Bermuda Fairways and Bermuda Tee Boxes. It plays 3082 yards. It is described as moderately difficult as a golfer is required to accurately place each shot to avoid trees, tall roughs and water. Tee times are not required but a phone call to the Pro-Shop (270-333-2299) is suggested to determine what course activity might delay or prohibit play.

The course offers cart rental, club rental and a driving range. You can also use your own cart for a rolling fee or walk and enjoy the country setting. It is open year round, weather and conditions permitting. If you are visiting from out of town please put a round of golf at Elkwood Golf Course on your list of things to do.
